Mission House Creative Wins Raleigh Public Relations Society Award

Growing Raleigh Communications Agency Takes Home RPRS Honor

RALEIGH, N.C., July 25, 2003 – Mission House Creative (MHC), an independent marketing and communications firm, received an Honorary Mention from the Raleigh Public Relations Society (RPRS) for development of internal campaign materials supporting the launch of Biovail Pharmaceuticals’ new drug, Cardizem LA.

RPRS recently presented the Sir Walter Raleigh Awards for Excellence in Communication at the club’s annual banquet. Each entry was judged by the Sacramento, CA Public Relations Association based on its objectives, method, results, creativity and overall quality using a 100-point scale. Best in Division, Gold, Silver, and Honorable Mention Awards were presented. Mission House Creative earned an Honorable Mention in the “Total Communications/Community Relations Campaign/Promotional Campaign” category.

In an effort to generate excitement for the milestone launch, MHC developed a comprehensive yet humorous internal campaign, delivering a coordinated series of communications/promotions (print, video, 3-D). A “Breakfast of Champions” event was planned, while sales reps received a series of themed premium items. Biovail’s first-ever newsletter was designed tabloid-style, complete with bright colors, fun features and motivating messages. Multi-media efforts included a Hollywood-style movie titled “A Time for Heroes,” reiterating how each Biovail employee is truly a hero in the effort to bring Cardizem LA to life. To generate further excitement for the premiere, a promotional trailer was developed and themed movie posters were displayed company-wide. Clever voicemails from the roguish antagonistic character representing high blood pressure teased employees, while a company-wide email with movie credit trivia and a link to download the trailer were disseminated. The culmination of these efforts significantly impacted company motivation, overall morale and initial drug sales.

“We are honored to have won this award from RPRS.” says Carol Roessner, creative director and co-founder of Mission House Creative. “The team took this project far beyond what was originally expected, making it a true success for the client, and this award reaffirms that effort.”

The Raleigh Public Relations Society, formed in 1959, is an organization for public relations professional in the Raleigh area. RPRS hosts professional development opportunities including monthly meetings and an annual awards banquet.
