From brainstorms to concept shoots, the MHC team has enjoyed a variety of crazy, creative moments together. Outlandish ideas tend to originate in our torture room, er, conference room where we often come together to ruminate. We feel its because of the wonderful assortment of inventive minds we have here (though it may be due to the amount of noxious gasses flowing from the markers we use to write the ideas down). Dark Magic at the Lake & Lodge? While this could be the title of our building, it actually refers to some of the various gourmet flavors youll find in our funky, new bean-brewin machine. This progressive appliance has brought us unmatched joy; not only can anyone operate the fancy device, its extremely versatile in that it brews individual cups of coffee and tea. And where theres coffee, there has to be chocolate. In our office, chocolate mysteriously appears in copious amounts on our kitchen counter. Some believe it is the oompa-loompas because of our close proximity to the Wonka pond (see Flora and Fauna), and they may be right. After all, who else could supply such an endless amount of goodies? By the way, did we mention we like food? Well, then, how lucky are we to have the amazing Brier Creek Shopping Center just five magic minutes away from our office. Theres OCharleys, Panera Bread Company, Johnny Carrinos, Quizznos, Brooklyn Sals, etc. These also just happen to be surrounded by a gratuitous abundance of retail including Walmart, Dicks Sporting Goods, Barnes and Noble and Caribou (wait, that involves coffee again). All that is available if youre heading west. Turn east and youll find the road that leads to Crabtree Valley (Raleighs prominent shopping mall) lined with numerous stores and restaurants. A recent birthday extravaganza for our fearless leader, Carol Roessner, was held at the luxurious palace (aka The Cheesecake Factory), located at Crabtree. Hers is not the only birthday we celebrate. All our employees are treated to exciting festivities on these special days, including silly string baths, designer-made t-shirts, poster sized cards and specially baked birthday cakes. After all, if the people at Mission House didnt have birthdays, we wouldnt exist. So we think theyre pretty important.
